In October 2022 the Economy, Commerce and Competitiveness Commission of the Chamber of Deputies approved the prompt payment initiative which proposes to amend article 83 of the commercial code to limit payment terms to micro, small, and medium enterprises to 45 days. The ability to extend terms to an absolute maximum of 60 days is also proposed. As yet the proposal has not been approved by the plenary.
